Photochemical Oxidation of Pt(IV)Me3(1,2-diimine) Thiolates to Luminescent Pt(IV) Sulfinates

چکیده

We report the formation of dinuclear complexes from, and photochemical oxidation of, (CH3)3-Pt(IV)(N^N) (N^N = 1,2-diimine derivatives) thiophenolate ligands to analogous sulfinates (CH3)3Pt(N^N)(SO2Ph) structural, spectroscopic, theoretical studies latter revealing tunable photophysics depending upon ligands. Electron-rich thiolate conjugated 1,2-diimines encourage thiolate-bridged complexes; smaller or electron-poor thiolates favor mononuclear complexes. Photooxidation ligand yields hitherto unreported Pt(IV)-SO2R complexes, promoted by electron-deficient such as 4-nitrothiophenol, which exclusively forms sulfinate complex. Such exhibit expected absorptions due π-π* transitions mixed with spin-allowed singlet MLCT (d-π*) at relatively high energy (270-290 nm), well unexpected broad, lower between 360 490 nm. DFT data indicate that these low absorption bands result from excitation Pt-S Pt-C σ-bonding electrons π* orbitals on 1,2-diimine, gives rise emission in visible range.

Unprecedented luminescent heteropolynuclear aggregates with gold thiolates as building blocks.

The reaction of [AuCl(P-N)], in which P-N represents a heterofunctional phosphine ligand, with pentafluorothiophenol, HSC(6)F(5), gives the thiolate gold derivatives [Au(SC(6)F(5))(P-N)] (P-N = PPh(2)py (1), PPh(2)CH(2)CH(2)py (2), or PPhpy(2) (3)). Complex [Au(SC(6)F(5))(PPh(2)py)] (1) reacts with [Au(OTf)(PPh(2)py)] in a 1:1 or 1:2 molar ratio to afford the di- or trinuclear species [Au(2)(μ-...

(α-Diimine)tricarbonylhalorhenium complexes: the oxidation side.

The electrochemical behaviour of the complexes [Re(CO)(3)X(α-diimine)], X = Cl or Br, α-diimine = 1,4-di-tert-butyl-1,4-diaza-1,3-diene, was reinvestigated using cyclic voltammetry accompanied by IR and UV-vis spectroelectrochemistry. While the reduction results in the loss of halide, as necessary for the electrocatalytic activity of related diimine compounds, a reversible oxidation could be ob...

Redox Chemistry of Gold(I) Phosphine Thiolates: Sulfur-Based Oxidation

The redox chemistry of mononuclear and dinuclear gold(I) phosphine arylthiolate complexes was recently investigated by using electrochemical, chemical, and photochemical techniques. We now report the redox chemistry of dinuclear gold(I) phosphine complexes containing aliphatic dithiolate ligands. These molecules differ from previously studied gold(I) phosphine thiolate complexes in that they ar...
